Draft: under review
Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This draft explains how Artemis handles information for professional dog walkers and dog owners in New Zealand and Australia. It is under review, not a claim of legal compliance. It addresses the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles where they apply. Which Australian obligations apply depends on the operator and business circumstances.
What we collect
We collect account names and email addresses, phone numbers when provided, home addresses, walker business details and start addresses, dog details, dog photos when uploaded, care information and walk records. Walk records include requests, dates, booking windows, groups, pick-up and drop-off times, cancellations and skip reasons. We also store invitations, notification delivery records, and messages sent through Contact us or feedback. Signing in involves an authentication provider. Using Google sign-in shares the account information needed to sign in.
Why we collect it
Names and emails identify accounts and deliver booking updates. Phone numbers and home addresses help the linked walking business contact you and collect or return your dog. Dog details help walkers plan suitable walks and care for dogs. Walk records help both parties manage bookings and understand what happened. Contact messages help Artemis respond to questions and privacy requests. Please provide only information needed for these purposes, and do not include passwords or payment details in messages.
Who can see it
Within the app, dog owners can see their own details, dogs and walks, and relevant details of their linked walking business. Walkers can see client, dog and walk details only for their linked business. Other dog owners and other walking businesses cannot view your private records. Authorised walkers in the same business may need these details to carry out walks. Private walker notes are not shown to dog owners in the app; a formal privacy access request is assessed separately under applicable law.
Services that help run Artemis
The Artemis operator and necessary service providers may process information to operate, support and secure the service. Lovable Cloud provides hosting, account and data services; Resend delivers notifications; Google Maps receives addresses or coordinates needed for maps and route planning. Dog care notes are not included in notification emails. This means linked-user access restrictions are not a promise that no service provider or authorised support operator ever processes data. Providers may process or store data overseas. The operator is reviewing hosting locations, provider arrangements and safeguards for overseas disclosures, including New Zealand principle 12 and Australian principle 8 where applicable. We may also disclose information when lawfully required.
How long information is kept
There is not yet a confirmed fixed retention period or automatic deletion schedule. Account, dog and walk records are currently retained while held in the service, including after a booking ends. Support messages and notification records are also stored. Cancelling a walk or signing out does not delete these records. The operator needs to set and review retention periods, keeping information only as long as reasonably needed for its purpose or lawful record-keeping, and securely deleting or de-identifying it when no longer needed. Backups and provider logs may remain for their own retention cycles; immediate removal from all backups is not promised.
Access, correction and deletion
You can update available profile and dog fields in Artemis. To ask for a copy, correction, account closure or deletion of your information, use Contact us and identify the account and records involved. We may need to verify your identity before acting. We assess requests under the applicable privacy law and explain any information that must be retained and why. Deletion is not an unconditional right under either Act, and no automatic account-deletion feature or instant deletion is promised. New Zealand access and correction rights and Australian access and correction rights apply as provided by law.
Questions and privacy complaints
Use Contact us to ask a question, request deletion or make a privacy complaint. Your name, reply email and message are stored privately for the Artemis operator, not shared as a public post or with all walkers. If your concern is not resolved, you may contact the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or the Australian Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, as appropriate. This draft will be updated after the operator has reviewed the policy and its practices.
